I wanted to write today about this day. Not in celebration, but in wonderment. I wonder if we, as a society, are reaching the levels of equality and balance that women across the centries thrived for or not.
Since the dawn of time, and women have been, and will always be, a vital cord for the human race survival. However, although the profundity of the fact is uncanny, there are remain skeptical views about the women's role in today's society.
Believe it or not, we are in the 21st century and yet, there remain individuals who believe that women's holy grail is home and family. While this fact continues to be an important one across centries; raising a family and keeping the household intact has always been a crucial part of the woman's life, but it is not her entire life. A woman, is a human, just like the man, with a different biological structure but the same needs of survival and prosperity.
While some women feel entitled best when they are in the comfort of their own homes, society needs to understand that it is not an instruction book to live by. Women are different, with various needs. Society needs to respect those needs, regardless of its nature.
Women need to feel entitled, as it is a basic human need. They must have the right to feel that need in whichever way they choose; whether it is on a career or personal level. Some women feel established when they are at home, having a family and catering for their needs, that is okay and should not be fought against. But, on the other hand, some are not alive except when they are out on the field doing something different and creating a change. In both cases; women do create a change in their own ways. But, they are doing so under their own well without being pressured to it by society or culture.
On this day, I want you to take a step back and think about what you have done in the past year. Are you still waiting for society to save you? are you supporting your women's force? as a man, do you understand the true meaning of being "a supporting male"? what have you done to create a change? answer those questions, honestly, and while celebrating today, take the decision to continue the journey of self-nourishment and establishment.
